Step 1: Create a New RAR File
To set password for RAR file, you need to create a new RAR file first. If you never done that, do as following: Open Winrar and click on Wizard, then select "Create a new archive" and add the target files you want to put in the RAR file. After inputting the file name, press "Next", then you will see the screenshot as shown below:
Step 2: Set RAR Password
Click the "Set Password..." button and start to set password for RAR file. If you have already got a RAR file, click on the Advanced button on the interface and then click on Set Password button. You will be asked to input the password twice for verification because you can not see the password you have input, what you see is only the asterisks.
Tips: There are two kinds of RAR password you can choose - Show password and Encrypt file names. The first one will allow the others to view the RAR contents but can not extract it; the second one will prevent it from being opened.
Step 3: Finish
Choose the password type as you need and then click the "OK" button to finish setting password for RAR file. That's it!
